stepped on one

I stepped on a bark scorpion this morning. It has been quite painful. The numbness has moved up my entire left leg. My right foot and my hands are also very tingly. My taste buds appear to be affected too - very weird.

One of the worst pain ever..no joke!

I recently got stung by a scorpion yesterday night. As soon as it stung me, I immediately felt the severe pain. It was as if I had 100 pins went through my toe and foot. Crying...I went to the bathtub and had cold water run over the affected area. I washed the area with bar soap, even though I didn't want to touch it, I knew I had to. Following that, I layed down with my foot elevated, making sure it was above my heart. My husband told me to calm down as he put a cold ice pack with a damp wash cloth in between affected area and ice pack to prevent frost bite. I had cold compress on my toe for 10 min. and kept leg elevated for 30 min. I did have tingling all the way to my calf. THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET FOR THESE INSTUCTIONS, IT REALLY HELPED. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING AS WELL IS TO SPRAY AROUND AND IN YOUR HOUSE...WHICH WE NEED TO DO FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. PLEASE EVERYONE...BECAREFUL,ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT!!!!

walked on a scorpion in the dark

This is the worst bite I ever felt from a bug. I walked on it leaving my bed to go to the bathroom. It felt like I stepped on a needle. Put the light on and it was moving. Looked like a piece of beige thread as I moved it with a napking it came alive. I applied ice, but it took a few hours before the pain left.

Stung in my car

I stopped at a drive through dry cleaner and as I was handing the employee my clothes, i felt a terrific sting on my inner thigh. Ow, ow, ow, he got me three more times. I was try desperately to take my safety belt off! I finally did, jumped out of my car, and shook my shorts. Out came Mr. Bark Scorpion. I began shaking and asked the attendant to drive me to urgent care. They sat me down in a room with a phone and dialed the Poison Control Center then sent me home. The poison control center called me every hour for the first 12 hours, then every other hour if I remember right. I relayed my symptoms, but they would not give me the "what comes next". Probably a good thing. I had numbness in leg, then tingling at the end of all appendages, felt crappy, and had a pain that would not quit. But I lived. It's noteworthy that I did research on our scorpions, and found that the Bark Scorpion is the only one that can walk straight up. So if you are on the second floor, it's a Bark

Scorpion Bath Time

Going to give my baby a bath today. Began warming up the water at 2:15p.m., got up and felt, what seemed like a hot shard of glass cutting through my foot. What the "F" I thought! Nope, turns out to be a bark scorpion sting (wishing it was a piece of glass). Went to urgent care with my dirty baby and all, sat there with my hypocondriac mind wondering if they were going to have to cut my leg off. Dr. said I was fine, just a shot in the butt and he sent me on my way. Leg still tingling and buring and feels like I have dead leg. Scorpion still upstairs by tub laying dead from his ultimate battle. Baby still no bath.

don't wish this on anyone

We were vacationing in Phoenix and was stung 3 time by bark scorpion while sitting on the sofa at a relatives house. It was terrible, it effected my whole body. I could not walk, talk or see straight and no one could touch me. I took an experimental antivenom and the worst of the symptoms were over in 12 hours. The area where it bit me still is a little numb after 6 days. I don't wish this on anyone, it was terrible.

Never Happened to me

Hi. I am on this website because a friend told me that it was a good site to go check out. I have never been stung by a scorpion and I don't want to. I just want to be prepared if it ever happens to me. So can someone please tell me what it feels like to be stung by a scorpion. Thank you so much. - Note from About.com Administrator: There are already more than 130 accounts of what it is like to be stung by a scorpion. I would think that that's enough for you to get the idea.

Stung at Lake Powell

My husband was stung on the bottom of his toe while at Lake Powell. He thought he'd stepped on a hot ember it burned so bad. A firey/numb feeling traveled up his leg, down the other leg, into his finger tips, and up his arms. When it got to his throat and tongue we went to the clinic. Dr gave him benadryl and pain killers. Nothing helped. He said it was the worst pain he ever felt 'cuz it was all over. After 12 hrs the pain was only in his leg. After 3 days it was only in his foot. It took nearly 3 weeks for him to get feeling back in his toe. Nasty buggers. Make sure to wear shoes at night.

Yow Yow Yow times 2

I am ten years old. The first time I was stung by an Arizona bark scorpion I was at a freinds house in the pool. I grabbed hold of the side to pull myself up and immediatly my finger started burning. I thought there was a tiny peice of hot metal there so I pulled my hand underwater. My freinds younger sister screamed because right where my hand was there was a scorpion. I thought I was going to die. The second time was not as bad because I was at home and knew what would happen. But OUCH!

Stung by Bark Scorpion on sole of foot.

Initial thought was glass in my foot, but extreme pain followed like my foot had been sliced open. Have placed my foot in shallow oblong dish filled with baking soda and ice water. However, even after 30 mintes the agonizing pain remains the same.

Three days!

I was stung three days ago, and at first I thought I'd stepped on a piece of glass, a very LARGE piece of glass. But within moments, it felt this fire/stabbing sensation traveling up my leg into my thigh, where it continued like that for the first 12 hours. It was the worst pain I can say that I've ever felt, because it's everywhere all at once. After the initial 12 hours in went down to my calfs, and stayed like that. 48 hours later it reduced from the aggravating and painful stabbing, to a numb feeling along my foot, where it's been since. In an hour it will have been 72 hours since the initial sting. The scorpion was hiding amongst my carpet in my living room. Let me tell you folks, this is not a FUN experience.
