From the article: Scorpion Sting
In Arizona we have scorpions and sometimes they sting. Scorpion stings can vary from being mildly annoying to downright unpleasant and painful. Share your story! How were you stung? What was it like? What did you do? What Happened To You?

BT Bad Experience

We live in an area that was once an orchard and are not immune to scorpion problems. Have found quite a few of them lately inside our home, the latest was when my husband went into the closet to grab a jacket and one was on it. Fortunately he saw it knock it off and killed it. I was not so lucky. Yesterday when we returned home from some errands my husband pulled up to our mail box and asked me to check for the mail. I reached into the mail box and felt something sharp hit my finger. I thought that maybe it was the metal in the mail box that has some rough edges so I reached in again and felt another sting. Then I immediately saw the scorpion running out of the mailbox. I yelled for my husband to get out of the car, and told him what had happened. By the time he got out the scorpion was underneath the mail box. He knocked it down and stepped on it. We immediately called the number listed on a flyer for advise. Since then I have had pain and total numbness up to my elbow.

Bark in bed

I put my legs under the bed sheets to go to sleep and got stung on both legs within seconds of each other. There was no swelling or bite mark, i thought i had pulled muscles until i investigated and found the guy lounging in the sheets. I have a high pain tolerance and the stings right above my ankles are comparable to having my feet fall asleep, as it tingles when i walk. Other than that, it's not bad at all.

It Hurt couldnt breathe

It crazy I remember one day my sis was in the shower.. i needed to pee so bad i walked in without looking around and i felt this sharp fast pinch stabbing needle type sting.. much more worse than a yellow jacket or wasp sting.. and i remember looking down and by the time i knew it it stung me again! on my toe twice, it hurt really bad and being 13 i asked my dad to take me to the ER He said no you'll be fine.. i couldn't talk my airway wanted to shut, i was cryin but i couldn't even hardly speak.. i wanted to faint, i had a bad reaction, fortunately my sister killed the lil bastard.. and after 10 yrs later I thank GOD IT PASSED within 3 days.. I feel better now rubbing alcohol helped a lot!!!!

Bark scorpian bite

I got bit 2 days ago from a 1 1/2" bark scorpian! The pain was worse than I could ever amagine. He was on the carpet in the living room and I stepped on him. He got me on my toe. Ice and keeping my foot elevated helped. Pain went to the top of my leg and felt like little electric shocks every minute or so. Next day my whole leg felt like pins and needles but no more pain and now today just my toes are numb. Getting someone out to spray around the house as that is one experiance I would not like to repete.

Stung 2 Hours Ago

Youch! I felt a sharp pinch. I had stepped directly on top of a bark scorpion. (My hubby got rid of it.) Initially, I experienced a tolerable amount of pain and tingling. However, the pain has escalated. 2 hours later, the pain is is still here, a stinging, burning and tingling sensation. I now know why people say it is extremely painful. I've felt much worse...second degree burns on a lot of my face and body, but this is definitely more painful than deep cuts. This is making me more irritable than anything else...I'm applying mind control techniques over the pain. I'm just hoping that the burning will tone down soon. The burning feeling makes me irritable. I can see why people say it is extremely painful. I have a fairly high pain tolerance

Stung

I was stung by a bark scorpion on 11-15-2009 at a hotel in Phoenix. We were on our way to a football game. I had to make one more check of the room. I checked under the bed when I felt a sting on my pinky. I looked on the bed and the little bastard (a bark scorpion) was walking away. I killed it and wondered what was coming next. I had tickets to the football game, but should I go? I had no idea what was to come next. I figured, at the worst case I could get medical attention at the game (and they would be prepared for such a situation). My finger went numb for a couple days. I was sick for a day. Fortunately I was able to attend the game thanks to beer. I believe it may be a cure all. If you are of legal age, I recommed you try it if you are stung or just bored. I am not a doctor so if I was you I would not take my advice!

DAMN!

Stung about an hour ago. On right ring finger, hurts like hell! I picked up sons pats out of the bathroom and when I pushed it down into the laundry basket felt like I was "stabbed with a hot needle" to put it as the majority of others have. The pain and tingling has made its way up to my armpit but seems to have stopped there. Thank goodness. Took motrin and benadryl hasn't really helped! Hope this end soon!

blood

I was walking around in a pleasent flower garden with my boy friend when a large inhumane creature bit my toe latter that day my toe was removed with lasers. My boyfriend was attaked to and broke up with me I was a sad man that day.................. [From the About.com Phoenix Guide: Sorry you had a rotten day, but are you saying that your toe was amputated because of a scorpion sting? Somehow I am skeptical....]

Wow!

I've been scared to death of scorpions - of being stung, having my daughter stung or my dog - found out today I was scared for good reason ! I put my foot down off the couch and felt a sharp pain on my toe, looked down and saw a scorpion next to my foot. I caught it and flushed it, but now am paranoid that there are more!! ...definitely some of the worst pain I've ever had...and unrelenting! Ice & pain meds have helped some - and keeping it elevated, but it's been about 14 hours now and no signs of easing up. Pain, tingling, numbness (like my foot has fallen asleep), throbbing, & burning has slowly made its way up from the toe to my foot to my ankle to lower leg. Walking on it doubles the pain! Need some relief very soon!

whisky helps....

I was stung at my gals house near sabino canyon.Woke up around 12:30a.m. to an excruciating pain in my left shoulder.when I propped myself up with my right hand, I was stung dead center in that palm,(I put my hand right on top of the critter,go figure) which at 11:30 a.m.,feels paralyzed. I can barely move my fingers.Turned out to be an inch long bark scorpion. tried to kill it with my shoe, but my gal has a tempra-pedic matress and the little bas$#@! just kept sinking in! Had to "slide smoosh it".Ice worked but a glass or two of 18yr.old single malt put me more at ease. after 11hours I'm still numb and tingling even in my neck and feet.Hate those little tan lobsters!

Just Stung By A Bark Scorpion.

I was just stung about 1 1/2 hours ago. I stepped on a baby bark scorpian a little over 1/2" long. I went to wake up my adult daughter. We searched until we found it, concerned about the kids. I'm not in the best health and it hurts alot. I'm hoping the pain doesn't get any worse and am watching for signs if I need to go to the hospital. It stung the underside of my middle left toe. I was going to the computer to shut it down for the night. Didn't make it. Our house has been infested for a couple of years. Nothing works to get rid of them. Thankfully I'm the 1st person to get stung. It felt like a large glass cut at first then the burning and tingling started. I feel tingling up to my face. All of my toes are cramping and burning. Ice is the only thing that has helped so far. I raised my foot to heart level as the article said but wouldn't that let the venom go up the body? I read here the pain lasts up to 24 hours. I'm in pain everyday anyway. Hopefully all will be okay.

Stung in bed...

Last night I was sleeping and woke up to a very weird pain. Like I popped a pimple on my back in a couple of places. Turns out that it was a Bark Scorpion that bit me in two places. I didn't realize that I had been bitten until I woke up. When I did wake, I started to feel a tingling sensation in my lips and I just felt "off" most of the day....maybe eight hours or so. But I felt the bit marks for a couple of days after. Check your beds before you sleep, they like hiding in the smallest of holes in comforters and pillows. Food for thought

Scorpion sting

I was stung about an hour ago while I slept. I was stung twice in the thigh. I found the scorpion in my bedsheets. It is an off and on burst of sharp pain, and I can feel the numbness spreading through my leg. It was not nearly as bad as I have heard. Feels like a long lasting bee sting.

confused in Texas

Found a scorpion on the bed the other day. Looked like the ones we used to play with when I was a kid. But I have people to worry about now so I go online to see what a Bark scorpion looks like so I know the difference. Now I Still don't know the difference!

stung in bed :/

Last night my boyfriend frantically awoken me saying how he was stung by a scorpion. We woke up, and searched for the little sucker under the sheets, pillows and comforter, but no luck. My boyfriend had a test in the morning and just wanted to go back to bed. Seconds after laying down he woke up screaming frantically, "gaaaaa, he stung me again, awww-gaaa, that little &^*#^ stung me again" He ran to the bathroom, threw off his shorts and that little sucker came crawling out, about 2 inches long. I courageously and graciously smashed our little visitor. We were unable to fall back asleep in our bed being that we were eeeked out and grossed out. I had the eerie thought of getting bitten haunting me. So I watched a married with children marathon, which now looking back at, was probably more painful then getting stung. My boyfriend woke up with some "tingly" feelings we called poision control and they said that it is normal and that it typically lasts for 6 hours.
